About My Love for Animals

“My work with animals is not what I do for a living, it is who I am” ……. Pamela Stanner

My husband, Barry, and I live in Lenoir City (near Knoxville) in beautiful East Tennessee, with our three Vizsla dogs Parker, Reign, and Katie and our Paso Fino horse, Merlin.

After graduating from Transylvania University in Kentucky where I received my B.A. in premed/biology, I attended the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and graduated with High Honors and a B.S. in Dental Hygiene. I have worked as a Dental Hygienist since graduating, and although I am now part time, I still love it to this day.

I have always wanted to work with animals and after certification in Equissage Equine and Canine Sports Massage Therapy in 2011, I opened Animal Massage Central with a friend. She has since retired but I have continued under my new name Cherokee Moon Healing Arts for Animals.

Within my bodywork practice, I have access to an equine vet that practices chiropractic and acupuncture and a canine vet who is a nutrition and pain specialist.

Wanting to extend my knowledge base, I have attended a number of courses in different disciplines that include: advanced week-long training with Jim Masterson of Masterson Method Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork (field work studies), TTouch with Linda Tellington-Jones/TTeam for horses, Jillian Kreinbring’s Equine Biomechanics, Dr. Melinda Connors Advanced Body Reading, Healing Touch, and a course on Mark Barnes Equine Myofascial Release.

In January of 2017, after several years of study, I received my Healing Touch for Animals Certification (HTACP). HTA has been the missing element that I need to bring the animals I work with into vibrant health.

As a member of Young Living Essential Oils I also have the knowledge to integrate the benefits of aromatherapy into my practice.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

This quote from Anatole France says it all for me. Animals are a part of my life and each animal that has touched my life has taught me something about myself and has pushed me to grow beyond what I ever imagined. I promise to never stop learning and never stop caring for the animals that come my way.
